Village - Volunteer Opportunity DESCRIPTION:The Leadership Service Committee is excited to partner with Mobile Loaves & Fishes for a morning of volunteering at their Community First! Village. \n\n Mobile Loaves & Fishes (MLF) is a social outreach ministry that has been empowering communities into a lifestyle of service with the homeless since 1998. Community First! Village is a 51-acre master planned community that provides affordable\, permanent housing and a supportive community for men and women coming out of chronic homelessness.\n\n Volunteer groups are led by a current or future resident of Community First! Village. Hosting groups like ours is one of the ways their friends are able to earn a dignified income\, which in turn enables them to do things like pay rent and buy groceries. If you are able to\, we ask you to contribute $10 when registering that goes toward the dignified income of the residents leading the group. Your support also helps buy the materials necessary for projects we'll be working on around the Village during our serve day.\n\n Pre-registration is required. Limited volunteer spots available. Volunteer spots are available to AYC Members only. If you're not an AYC Member\, please email AYC staff at info@austinyoungchamber.org.\n\n This volunteer event may entail laying pathways\, harvesting our gardens\, tending the chicken coop\, dry landscaping yards of our micro-homes\, etc. We ask that everyone come wearing the proper clothing to ensure a safe day at work and require that each volunteer wear long pants\, a short sleeve shirt\, close toed shoes (boots HIGHLY recommended) and always recommend a hat\, bug spray and/or sunscreen for the outdoors. \n\n\n In-Person Event Expectations for Attendees:\n\n ✅ Masks required for non-vaccinated individuals\n\n ✅ Wash or sanitize your hands frequently\n\n ✅ Greet each other with non-physical contact\n\n ✅ Maintain social distancing when possible\n\n ✅ Color-coded name tags at check-in to denote social interaction comfort level\n\n ✅ Stay home when appropriate\n\n ✅ The Austin Young Chamber reserves the right to update these protocols should City\, County\, and/or State guidelines change.\n\n Please do not register if you are not feeling well\, have tested positive for COVID-19\, or feel you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19.
