Meals on Wheels - Volunteer Opportunity

The Leadership Service Committee has organized an opportunity to give back for AYC Members.

We are partnering with Meals on Wheels Central Texas to help load meals for their Friday delivery days. This is a great opportunity to give back while maintaining safety protocols. Meal deliveries happen 9:00AM - 12PM, and volunteers are given a quick training before meal pick-up begins.

Volunteers will loading meals in to the trunks of the drivers. Each route typically has between 10-12 clients, and each client is receiving 2-weeks of meals. A single, one-week package of food weighs approximately 10-15 pounds and is about the size of a shoebox. This opportunity does require volunteers be able to lift 15 pound items repeatedly throughout the day.

Pre-registration is required. Limited volunteer spots available. Volunteer spots are available to AYC Members only. If you're not an AYC Member, please email AYC staff at info@austinyoungchamber.org.

To help ensure everyone's safety, the following guidelines must be followed at Meals on Wheels:

• Participants must maintain 6ft. of distance between themselves and others.
• Participants must wear a mask covering their mouth and nose.
• Hand sanitizer is provided at each station for use between cars/as needed.

Please do not register if you are not feeling well, have tested positive for COVID-19, or feel you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19.
